Following in the footsteps of Sri Chaitanya Mahäprabhu, all the preachers engaged in the service of ISKCON should be very expert in putting forward strong arguments and defeating all types of atheists. Madhya 9.51
From the beginning, Srila Prabhupäda was uncompromising: ''Surrender to Krsna is the only goal of life. All else is nonsense.'' Srila Prabhupäda's everyday vocabulary was full of words like fool, rascal, demon, mudha, and nonsense. Interestingly, Christians trying to convert Hindus have the tactic of disclaiming Srila Prabhupäda by referring to his use of sharp language. ''How can a person who calls others 'fools' and 'rascals' be saintly?'' they posit.
But it is the duty of an äcärya to speak firmly, as did all the great ächäryas in the past. Some of them, such as Rämänujäcärya and Madhväcärya, risked their lives to speak strongly. Real äcäryas not only accept respect and facilities, but they stand up for the principles of the sampradaya. An empowered preacher does not simply speak vigorously amongst his disciples—he goes out into the world to deliver the message of Godhead to the misguided population.
Srila Prabhupäda's own spiritual master was the legendarily staunch "Lion Guru," Srila Bhaktisiddhänta Sarasvati Thakura. He declared "total war on mäyä" and preached so unreservedly that his enemies tried to kill him. Sarasvati Thakura shocked the intellectuals of the day by his totally uncompromising and forceful condemnation of everything that fell short of the standard of unmotivated devotional service. Many responded by openly questioning his bonafidity as a saintly person. Sarasvati Thakura replied in numerous speeches and articles, explaining why a true sadhu must speak strongly. He went on speaking contentiously throughout his life, not caring for outside opposition or even the dissatisfaction of his own disciples.
When my Guru Mahäräja was present even big, big scholars were afraid to talk with his beginning students. My Guru Mahäräja was called Living Encyclopedia, he could talk with anyone on any subject. He was so learned—so we should be like that as far as possible. No compromise—Ramakrishna, avataras, yogis, everyone was enemy to Guru Mahäräja—he never compromised. Some Godbrothers complained that this preaching was chopping technique and it would not be successful. But we have seen that those who criticized, they fell down. For my part I have taken up the policy of my Guru Mahäräja—no compromise. All these so called scholars, scientists, philosophers who do not accept Krsna are nothing more than rascals, fools, lowest of mankind etc. Letter 73-07-27
Once a senior disciple of Srila Bhaktisiddhänta Sarasvati Thäkura complained that a young brahmacäri had spoiled a preaching engagement by openly criticizing a popular charlatan. The meeting had dissolved into chaos with the Gaudiya Matha preachers being chased away. It was terrible publicity. Srila Bhaktisiddhänta Sarasvati Thäkura had himself warned not to publicly name ideological enemies. But instead of rebuking the young brahmacäri, he said, ''He has done well.'' Sarasvati Thäkura appreciated the preaching spirit.
Srila Prabhupäda fully imbibed the mood of his spiritual master. One of the features that distinguished Srila Prabhupäda from his godbrothers was his bold, straightforward preaching. If someone disagreed with Srila Prabhupäda, he would show them why they were wrong and he was right.
and much more........
